The congressional committee investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection has now set its sights on hearing from top Trump administration officials, including the former president’s adult daughter Ivanka Trump. According to Melania Trump’s former aide and friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Ms. Trump will find herself in hot water regardless of whether or not she testifies before the panel.
Speaking with CNN’s John Berman, Wolkoff weighed in on former President Donald Trump’s response to Ms. Trump getting called to testify before the congressional panel voluntarily. The former president described the situation as an “unfair situation” for his children to the Washington Examiner.
“Ivanka and his children have always played a large part in the falsification and fabrication of everything going around Donald,” said Wolkoff.
“And this case, he’s referring to her as a child, where in other cases she’s a senior adviser inside the White House. Which one is it?” Berman pressed. Berman also pressed Wolkoff on whether or not the former first daughter would find herself in hot water helping the cause rather than get herself in more trouble. Wolkoff explained that it was likely going to be the latter for the former White House adviser.
“I think Ivanka would get herself in more trouble regardless of whether she speaks or not,” Wolkoff explained. “She doesn’t seem to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, whether under deposition or not. Either way, she’s not turning against her father and her father is definitely not going to take the blame for Ivanka.”
Ms. Trump’s cousin, Mary Trump, also echoes Wolkoff’s explanation regarding the former president. Mary Trump explained that the former president would not hesitate to let his own daughter take the fall if it would be in his best interest. Speaking on Alex Witt of MSNBC Sunday, Mary Trump said that it does not seem likely that her uncle would want to protect his own children from the ongoing investigations that the Trumps are in.
“Donald isn’t playing the card that she’s his child to protect her. He’s doing that to protect himself because he knows she may indeed have potentially damning information,” said Mary Trump.
