Donald Trump has a notorious habit of not having any filter in his mouth. Now, it turns out that his website is similarly without reliable security. This allowed some rather mischievous individuals to drop some poop emoji before the tech team was able to patch up the holes.
The Trump website had a flaw in it that basically gave anyone with even some understanding of how the internet works to mess with it, Engadget reports. Technically speaking, it’s not exactly a hack since it didn’t involve breaking through firewalls and such. It simply had a quirk where typing something into the page’s URL allowed people to change the header.
It allowed would-be hackers to add whatever texts they wanted on the site and it would appear. It just so happens that some didn’t stop with words. Among the texts that were added on the site include “TRUMP CONCEDED,” “I LIKE TURTLES,” and “TRUMP ACCEPTS DEFEAT.”
The flaw has since been fixed, USA Today reports, and the internet can no longer add any kind of emoji on the website. By all accounts, the tricks that were pulled aren’t considered malicious or even intended to really impact Trump’s chances at the presidency. It was more or less just the internet having fun at the expense of someone else. In other words, business as usual.
So far, the Trump campaign hasn’t made any comment on the pranks pulled on the website as well. With this being Election Day, it’s more than likely that the Republican nominee’s camp is too busy worrying about the results than some random people messing with the headers.
However, simply basing on Trump’s track record for these things, it’s more than a fair bet that he would have something to say about it once the day is done. He might even blame the prank for contributing to his loss if it happens.
